ESI Scheme was first implemented in the State of J&K on 16.10.89 covering about 7000 thousand workers in the centers at Jammu, Kathua and Srinagar. The scheme was further extended to certain establishments under section 1(5) w.e.f. 8.3.2002 and to the Educational Institutions w.e.f. 25.11.2005. Further, ESI Scheme has been implemented in two more centres viz; Samba and Katra w.e.f. 16.3.2009 and at Udhampur and Kandrorian (Katra) centres w.e.f. 01.01.2011.Till February 2003, the scheme in J&K  was administered by the Regional Office.....          more
